The Pooja Room

THE SPIRITUAL HALLOWED SPACE AND THE SPIRIT NICHE
A Project by The White Lotus. A Beautiful Puja Alcove Transformed from A Hole-In-The Wall. The White Lotus was commissioned by Maya and Rajiv to transform a small space that was ‘left over’ between a bathroom and the bedroom. Maya and Rajiv had increased the bathroom, a small portion was hived off and another section carved to create extra storage for the bedroom and leaving the remaining space – that epitomised the adage- “A Hole in the wall”.

Based on the position as seen by the plan, the back wall was shared with the Bathroom wall, hence the challenge was how to add ‘a space of divinity’ between this space. I proceed to consult a person who ‘reads the flow of energy/chi’ and it was agreed that to stop the flow of any of the ‘energy’ from the bathroom, a full length mirror across the rear wall would allow there to be a ‘cut’ of energies from the bathroom and the energy within this space gets amplified.
With this suggestion in hand, my only hesitation was the receptivity to this idea by the Clients who however welcomed the suggestion. Maya maintains that her Puja is one of the nicest section of her home. I am so pleased with the outcome and kudos to my patient carpenters who even replaced the two doors as I found the brass strips out of alignment. Maya and Rajiv are a wonderful couple and it was a joy doing up their home.
