In every home or work space the placement of paintings always tends to add color and brings out a whole new perspective to the ambience of a space. It is said that “A picture paints a thousand words” and any art piece can always be a conversational piece in any surrounding. Be it a collector’s piece or a quirky piece that catches one’s eye, every picture or art will always bring out a personality of the buyer and when placed in a space, it will further enhance that area to either bring out the personality of the home owner or the foundations of a company. In this piece, I decided to explore the myriad of paintings and sketches by local Indian talents that are available from Art & Beyond.

Remember, nowadays owning a painting, is something we can all indulge in. In the past, there was this mindset that art pieces were either expensive or were catered to “art collectors” or a select few. I personally felt that owning an art piece was only for that selects few and a distant dream for me.

However, the advent of art being brought into the mainstream, I realized art pieces are very much affordable and we now have a broad platform to choose from – pieces that tickle our fancy and choices without it having to break our bank account, to indulge in the visual pleasure that an art piece provides. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of selecting a few pieces for myself of which hangs proudly on my wall.

Below are some of the art pieces that I have purchased. Recently I was drawn to and purchased a piece by Manjunath Wali, from his Tuk Tuk series – a piece that invoked a fun, free-spirited energy in the quirkiest way.

The fusion of rainy season and historical places in cities & villages constitute the sub of my paintings, colour schemes are modern & flashy but intentional.

PRADEESH RAMAN
Pradeesh K Raman is a self-taught artist with a Diploma in Photography. Born in Kannur, Kerala, India. The faces, intricate patterns, flowers and a play of light and shade are all brought together in Pradeesh’s works. The
faces are portrayed in bold colours, melded with hues from the background. The colours are soft, but still seem to glow from the canvas; the masterful shading provides a contrast between the subject and the backdrop.

M D PARASHAR
M. D. Parashar, a wildlife photographer and painter is best known for his paintings of Tiger with the medium of Lampblack or Soot. His passion for Ranthambhore and all its inhabitants, quadruped, biped and stationary inspired him to found the Ranthambhore School of Art and Wildlife Conservation Society. With domestic lampblack or soot and a crumpled newspaper used as a nib, Parashar creates intricate imagery of his preferred muse: The Tiger. Among his several awards is a first prize in National Wildlife Photography.

DNYANESHWAR BEMBADE
Artist Dnyaneshwar Bembade was born and brought up in the Latur Village of Maharashtra. So his paintings are mostly inspired by rural life. He uses Acrylics on canvas.

GANAPATI HEGDE
Ganapati Hegde, born in Kumta, Karnataka in 1974, moved to Bangalore to complete his education. Hegde started his career as a Creative Designer at a prestigious software company while pursuing his passion for painting. Hegde’s inspiration comes largely from nature. In his words, “My works are based on Nature’s bounty; fantasy and horrifying complex structures, collage of leaves, animals, and body organs with contemporary thoughts.” He has participated in several solo and group shows in India and UAE.

PRATIKSHA BOTHE

REMYA KUMAR
Remya Kumar is an Architect by professional qualification, but ever since she began seriously painting in 2009, art has become her chosen means of creative expression, and now her profession. She has always found joy in painting and sketching from a young age. She loves the challenge of a blank canvas, the promise that it holds, and thrill of experiencing a work of art blossom from that emptiness. In her own words, “Painting for me is most joyous when it is spontaneous and intuitive; where one stroke of the palette
knife beckons the next, one colour asks for another, and the process is unforced”.

SUBRATA GHOSH
Subrata Ghosh, a contemporary artist from Kolkata and an art graduate from Rabindra Bharati University. His art style is greatly influences by Indian classical art. The Ajanta figures and Gupta sculptures makes an imprint in his delineation of form. There is an element of three dimensions, playing with duality of light and shade in his figuration. The floral elements, rhythmic plants and creepers, flying birds decorate the tranquil faces and
figures in his. His paintings are assimilation of the two opposing approach – Classicism and Romanticism.
